Divisions

The Office of Constable Precinct 5 is organized into nine specialized divisions and units that work together to deliver law enforcement services beyond reproach to Montgomery County.

Division

Patrol Division

The Patrol Division is the most visible face of the Office of Constable Precinct 5. Deputies operate marked patrol units throughout the precinct 24/7, responding to calls for service, conducting traffic enforcement, performing Vacation Watch checks, and partnering with neighborhood associations and schools.

Patrol Division
Division

Civil Process Division

Service of civil process is one of the original and defining duties of the Texas Constable. The Civil Process Division serves citations, subpoenas, writs, notices, and orders issued by courts of competent jurisdiction. Deputies serve papers throughout Precinct 5 and, when authorized, throughout Montgomery County and the State of Texas.

  • Service of citations, subpoenas, and court orders
  • Writs of execution, sequestration, garnishment, and attachment
  • Notices to vacate, writs of possession, and eviction enforcement
  • Protective and family-violence orders
  • Levies and judicial sales when ordered by the court

Civil Process Division
Division

Criminal Investigations

The Criminal Investigations Division conducts follow-up investigations on cases initiated by Patrol, processes evidence, interviews witnesses and suspects, and works closely with the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office to prepare cases for prosecution. Investigators also partner on multi-agency task forces targeting narcotics, theft, and property crimes affecting the precinct.

Criminal Investigations
Division

School Resource Officers

The School Resource Officer (SRO) Division places sworn deputies on assigned campuses throughout Precinct 5 to protect students, staff, and visitors. SROs build positive relationships with young people, serve as a trusted resource for faculty and parents, and lead safety and prevention education programs in partnership with local school districts.

  • Daily campus presence and physical security
  • Active-threat preparedness and emergency drills with district staff
  • Mentorship, classroom safety education, and youth engagement
  • Investigation of campus-related offenses
  • Partnership with school administrators, counselors, and parents
School Resource Officers
Division

K-9 Unit

The K-9 Unit pairs specially trained working dogs with experienced handlers to support patrol, narcotics interdiction, tracking of missing persons or fleeing suspects, and public demonstrations. Every K-9 team is certified to nationally recognized standards and trains continuously to remain mission-ready.

  • Narcotics detection in support of patrol and investigations
  • Tracking of fleeing suspects and locating missing persons
  • Building searches and high-risk apprehension support
  • Public demonstrations and community education events

Swift Water Rescue

Montgomery County's creeks, rivers, and low-water crossings can become deadly during heavy rain. The Swift Water Rescue team is a specialized group of deputies trained and equipped to perform high-water and swift-water rescues, evacuations, and disaster-response operations throughout Precinct 5 and the surrounding region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Swift-water and flood rescue of stranded motorists and residents
  • Boat operations on rivers, creeks, and flooded roadways
  • Mutual aid during hurricanes, tropical storms, and flash-flood events
  • Search-and-rescue support for partner emergency-management agencies
  • Continuous training to TX-TF1 / national swift-water rescue standards

Special Response Team (SRT)

The Special Response Team (SRT) is the precinct's tactical unit, activated for high-risk warrant service, barricaded subjects, hostage situations, active-threat response, and other operations beyond the scope of standard patrol. SRT operators are hand-selected, complete a rigorous selection course, and train continuously in firearms, less-lethal options, breaching, and team tactics.

  • Crowd-management and protection operations as directed

Special Response Team (SRT)
Division

Special Response Group (SRG)

The Special Response Group (SRG) is a rapid-deployment specialty unit comprised of deputies cross-trained to support patrol, investigations, and tactical operations during major incidents, large-scale events, and emergencies. SRG provides surge capacity, dignitary and event security, and operational coordination across divisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surge response for major incidents and county-wide emergencies
  • Dignitary, event, and large-gathering security operations
  • Inter-agency coordination during multi-jurisdictional events
  • Specialty support to Patrol, Warrants, Investigations, and SRT
  • Critical-incident liaison with Emergency Management partners

Drone (UAS) Unit

The Drone Unit operates FAA-certified Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) in support of patrol, search and rescue, traffic-incident reconstruction, tactical operations, and disaster response. Drone pilots are Part 107-certified and follow strict policies that protect both operational integrity and individual privacy rights.

  • Aerial support for search and rescue and missing-persons cases
  • Overwatch and reconnaissance during high-risk operations
  • Crash and crime-scene documentation and mapping
  • Damage assessment after storms, floods, and large-scale incidents
  • FAA Part 107 compliance, recurrent training, and policy oversight
